Recruitment & Selection
Nowadays companies have lot to do in order to hire an adequate and good candidate that they are looking for. Usually, people don’t even know how much effort there is involved to whole recruitment process. As mentioned in the coursebook well prepared and up to date Human resource planning is crucial for organizations. With that companies are able to deliver their services in the future without any loss regarding that they wouldn’t have enough employees for the job. (Meija Gomez, 2016)
Recruitment process, (including selection) is the key point where everything can go as planned or in opposite direction. It will show later on for the company’s financial figures if they have hired wrong people. Employees who don’t have enough motivation or input are only bringing costs for the company but not outcomes that they are expecting. Even though organization would have made right choices with applicants their job is not done. They have to create feeling for the new employees that they are welcomed to a team. This is called socialization and it is part of the hiring process. It is very simple: if new employees don’t feel appreciated, they are not staying too long in that company.
CASE 1: What It Was Really Like Working as an Abercrombie “Model”?
This case shows extremely how wrong recruitment process can be. Recruiters didn’t care who you are and didn’t even ask interview questions, they were only interested what your appearance is. I think this creates very stressful work environment when you can’t fully be yourself. The girl of this case told that she even had to go home and come back to work one time because she had wrong nail color. On the other hand, I understand that certain workplaces you have to be neater and tidier, but this was on a whole different level. I think this kind of company face a lot variability between employees because of their “standards”.

How the Hiring Process Has Changed?
Over the year’s recruitment process has evolved enormously. Technology enables more effective way to connect companies and browse the selection. LinkedIn is popular tool for this and there is a chance that so-called headhunters will find you and suggest specific company that they think you are suitable for. Also, interviews are so much easier to arrange nowadays because we have so many digital platforms which to use. (Lauren Levine, 2021.) Personality plays a big part of selection because recruiters want to have impression that your character will match their company’s reputation and they could have a long-lasting contract with you.
